What is Business Coaching?

We define business coaching as a helping relationship formed between a coach/consultant and a client who has managerial authority to make change within a defined business area. This could be a company, a division, a department, etc. The coach/consultant uses an arsenal of assessment tools and a wide array of business process tools to assist the client in achieving a clear set of goals identified by the client.

These goals may cover the client’s personal performance and satisfaction and/or the effectiveness of the client’s organization. Organization issues range from employee accountability, employee relations, process issues, revenue generation, profitability and a host of other barriers to success. The client’s agenda is always the focus of our work.

The work is collaborative with the coach acting as a guide and facilitator. Often, the barriers we identify include specific elements in the business such as processes that are not working well, inadequate communication, knowledge and skills that need to be learned. At times, the barrier starts with the client and his or her view of the situation. Often, we can provide different perspectives that open up whole new approaches that the client can consider.
